Adventures in Postcrossing #11

The goal of Postcrossing is to connect the world via real mail, by allowing you to exchange postcards with other random members around the world.

It's been (and still is, as a matter of fact) a hot summer which only led to one sensible strategy - taking things slow. This certainly includes my adventures in Postcrossing which have unsurprisingly been a bit on the sluggish side these past two months. While I'd look forward to sending off postcards once a week during the first half of the year, I'm now doing so at a 3-weeks-interval which also pretty much depends on whether the respective weekend provides me with bearable temperatures or not. By the look of it I probably won't be picking up a pen or lick any stamps before September though. Either way, summer must end eventually and I'm confident that my card-writing will be picking up again once fall season rolls around.

This being vacation season you might wonder whether I have been at least sending out a few postcards from wherever the road has taken me. Well, no travel adventures for yours truly either, just suffering through the heat back home. And I don't even have a pool. Unless you count my bathtub. But to let you in on a little secret - I'm not all that big on writing cards when traveling. Only a select few people will receive one and we're talking about single digits here aka maybe five people or so. Also I have never been one of those who will send myself a postcard. That is, I might have done this just for the heck of it when I was still a wild 20-something but not so anymore. Sometimes I wonder if it's mostly to being forgetful or just plain laziness.

So, did my babbling on about the heat distract you from the fact that I previously promised to show off my vintage card collection? I didn't think so. Anyway this mission has again been postponed until cooler days aka days when taking half decent photos and writing some witty lines to go along with them will make this a whole lot more fun and less sweat inducing. So, no pretty pictures today. Instead,I shall close this blog post with a lovely quote instead.

What a wonderful thing is the mail, capable of conveying across continents a warm human hand-clasp.
